If you live in or visit NYC, do yourself the favor of crossing the George Washington Bridge to visit Fort Lee for a meal. As one of the largest Korean communities in the country, there are endless options for great food. And if you do make this trip, I highly recommend PyeongAnDong. PyeongAnDong is a lovely eatery a stone's throw from the George Washington Bridge. When I visited this week I went with a group of 6. We sat at a big table near the center of the restaurant. Compared to New York, the long dining area feels spacious, yet cozy due to smart interior design. We ordered a mix of shared and individual dishes, all delicious. Standouts are the 설렁탕 (Seolleongtang), a beef bone soup that literally warmed my soul, and the 갈비찜 (Galbi-jjim), delicious braised short ribs. You can't go wrong though, try something, come again then try something else! PyeongAnDong is well worth the trip from the city (or surrounding NJ). Give it a visit and enjoy!
The food was 5/5, service also 5/5, and the ambience was casual. I came in a party of 5 with a baby in our party on a Sunday, and they accommodated us and seated us quickly. Honestly, the food made me feel like I was transported back to Korea. We got galbijjim, mul naengmyeon and bibim naeongmyeon along with the fried rice that comes with the galbijjim. They were all good, especially the galbijjim and I'm personally a mul naengmyeon person and it was so refreshing! I love the thin noodles. When in the area, I'll definitely be back.
If you're looking for traditional Korean dishes, this is the place to go. I love their menu especially on days I'm craving traditional Korean stews.
This place is hands down one of my favorite spots for braised beef short ribs in NJ. It's part of a franchise with Olle in NYC, but this location is the 원조 (original), so the portions are bigger. The side menu is absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere here is much cozier and more casual than Olle, which feels a bit more high-end. This is my second visit, and I'm so glad I came back because I don't think I'll find anything like this in NJ or NYC. The prices are reasonable for the huge portions. The Korean dessert, "the rice and vegetables to mix with the leftover galbi jjim" were the perfect way to finish off the meal. The food comes quickly, the quality is amazing, and the service is top-notch. 10/10 would recommend, but I kinda hope this place stays under the radar because I plan to keep coming back! ;)
This place cooks authentic Korean food that reminds me of my mom's cooking. And not overly sweetened like some of the more modern restaurants make food now. Sort of tucked away behind the two big high rises in the center of town, and with nice decor.
